2 Satkhira youths jailed for stalking
Two youths were jailed in Shyamnagar and Kalaroa upazilas for stalking two girls students of college and school Tuesday night and the day before.
A mobile court sentenced a youth to jail for two months for stalking a schoolgirl at village Sonakhali in Shyamnagar upazila on Tuesday. The court also fined him Tk. 500, in default, to suffer 15 days more in jail.
The accused was identified as Md Warejkuruni, 20, son of Ayub Ali Mollah of village Sora Taranipur.
Locals said Warejkuruni used to stalk Mariam Khatun, 14, daughter of Mafizul Islam of village Sonakhali on her way to school.
Mariam is a class ten student of Arshad Ali Junior High School in Romjannagar union.
Warejkuruni tried to abduct her while she was returning home along with her uncle Mujibar Rahman on November 30.
Victim's father Mafizul Islam filed a case with Shyamnagar police station accusing the youth of stalking.
Police arrested the accused soon after filing of the case.
Later Shyamnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sabbir Ahmed in a mobile court delivered the judgement in presence of local people.
In another incident, a mobile court sentenced a youth to one month's imprisonment for stalking a college student at village Boalia in Kalaroa upazila on Monday.
Convict Shariful Islam, 18, is son of Md. Nur Ali Dalal of village Boalia.
Locals said Shariful used to stalk Monjuara Khatun 17, daughter of Fazar Ali of village Boalia on her way to college.
Monjuara is a student of Boalia Muktijoddha College. On Tuesday. Shariful teased her while returning from the college at about 1-30pm.
Victim's father filed a case with Kalaroa police station against the stalker.
Police arrested Shariful Islam and informed the matter to Kalaroa Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) ANM Tariqul Islam.
The UNO delivered the judgement in presence of local people after hearing both the sides.
