4 housewives murdered
Four housewives were murdered in Natore, Sylhet, Thakurgaon and Naogaon districts on Friday and Thursday.
In Natore, a housewife died instantly when a bullet accidentally pierced her throat while her husband was cleaning his revolver at his house at Rannoigari village in Lalpur upazila on Friday afternoon, reports our correspondent.
The deceased was identified as Arifa Khatun, 22, wife of alleged criminal Wasim, 28, of the same village. Arifa was admitted to a private clinic at Gopalpur where the doctors declared her dead.
Lalpur police arrested Wasim at midnight and recovered a revolver from him.
The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy. A case was filed against five people yesterday.
In Sylhet, police recovered the hanging body of a housewife from her bedroom at Shikarkha village in Jointapur upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Kontina Begum, 26, wife of Mondol Mia of the same village, reports UNB.
Police said they recovered the body in the morning and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.
The victim's husband claimed that Kontina committed suicide following a family feud.
But Kontina's father Abdul Nur of the same village alleged that his daughter was killed by her in-laws following a brawl.
In Naogaon, police recovered the hanging body of a housewife from her bedroom at a rented house near Baludanga bus stand in the district town on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Shabana Begum, wife of police constable Fazlur Rahman, working in Naogaon Police Lines and hailed from Konabari village in Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi district.
Parents of Shabana alleged that her in-laws tortured her to death following a family feud and hanged the body to prove that she had committed suicide.
A housewife was beaten to death on Friday allegedly by her in-laws at Bojrapara village under Sadar upazila in Panchagarh.
The killers than hung her body from a beam of a room to prove it as a case of suicide, alleged relatives of the victim.
Police arrested victim's mother-in-law Rabeya Begum on charge of her involvement in the murder while other three members of the family including husband, father-in-law and brother-in-law went into hiding after the incident, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent.
Police said Rubaiya Sultana Rupia, 23, daughter of Sadequl Islam alias Debaru of Magura Senpara village under the same upazila was married to Anwarul Haque, 27, son of Mohimuddin of the same village about four years ago.
After her marriage she was tortured three on and often on trivial pretexts. On the fateful day Rubaiya was beaten to death by the members of her in-laws, according to the case statement.
Rubaiya's father Sadequl Islam filed a murder case accusing four persons including her husband Anwarul Haque, 27, father-in-law Mohimuddin, brother-in-law Hasibul and mother-in-law Rabeya Begum.
