RU reopens Nov 26 amid tight security
Classes at Rajshahi University (RU) will resume on November 26 after a 13-day Eid-ul-Azha vacation amid tight security.
However the dormitories of both male and female of the university will reopen today.
RU acting registrar Prof MA Bari said, the classes of regular courses of several departments of the university will start on November 26.
Meanwhile the university authorities have taken tight security measures to avoid any untoward situation on the campus after Eid vacation.
RU Proctor office sources said the authorities asked law enforcers and Detective Branch men to check the identity cards of students at seven gates of the university and hall gates.
The RU authorities also asked the teachers, officials, students and employees to keep their identity cards with them while on the campus, the sources said.
Proctor Prof Chowdhury Muhammad Zakaria told this correspondent that the authorities strengthened security on campus and imposed restrictions on all activities of student bodies.
“Stern action would be taken if anybody tries to create chaos on the campus”, he said.
The authorities vacated all the residential halls on November 14 as a step to avert unwanted situation as Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists locked in a series of clashes on the campus since August 23.
A BCL activist was killed and around 150 people were injured in the clashes.
Viva voce exam
Meanwhile, the viva voce of the applicants who passed the written first year honours admission test under 2010-11 academic session of Rajshahi University (RU) will begin tomorrow.
The exam of different units will start at 9:00am at their respective dean offices, administration sources said.
The viva voce of A-1, A-2, A-3, A-4, A-5 and A-6 units will be held on November 24 and 25 while the viva voce of B unit will take place on November 25.
The exam of C-1, C-2, E-1, E-2, F-1, F-2 and F-3 units will be held on November 28, 29 and 30. D unit viva voce will take place on November 28 and 29.
G unit viva voce has been set for November 28 and 29 and H unit viva voce will be held on November 27 and 28, the sources said.
The admission seekers will be able to know the details information of viva voce and admission from the respective dean offices and the university website www.ru.ac.bd.
