Memorial for five FFs of Jamalpur
A memorial for five martyred freedom fighters was inaugurated at Madarganj upazila headquarters on Thursday.
The five freedom fighters--Ramiz Uddin, Shahjahan, Golap, Saheb Ali and Shahjahan ( Bir Bikram)-- embraced martyrdom during Liberation War in 1971.
Ramiz Uddin, son of late Asir Uddin of Kualikandi village Madarganj upazila, joined the liberation war under sector-11 and died in a battle with Pak army near Poyla Bridge in Melandah upazila on October 22, 1971. Golap, son of late Momej Uddin of Junail village under the upazila, also took part in the battle. He was captured and killed by Pak army.
Shahjahan ( Bir Bikram), son of late Jasim Uddin of Charvatiani village, and Shahjahan, son of late Abul Hossain of junail village of the upazila, fought for the freedom of the motherland under sector-11 and died in a battle with Pak army at Dhanua Kamalpur of Jamalpur district.
Saheb Ali, son of late Niamat of Kukurmari village, died in a face to face fight with Pak occupation army at Nalitabari in Sherpur.
Built by Madarganj Upazila Parishad, local lawmaker Mirza Azam inaugurated the memorial. Upazila Chairman Obaidur Rahman Belal, UNO Shawkat Ali and local AL leaders and activists were present .
