Two drown in Natore, B'baria
Two people drowned as boats capsized in the rivers in Natore and Brahmanbaria districts yesterday and the day before.
In Brahmanbaria, one person drowned and five others sustained injuries as a boat sank in the River Titas at Gosaipur in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district yesterday, reports UNB.
The dead was identified as Arju Mia, 45, of Bhoirabnagar village in the upazila.
Locals said the incident occurred while a Brahmanbaria-bound speedboat from Nabinagar hit the sand-laden engine driven boat in the morning. The injured passengers, however, swam ashore.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered Arju's body. They seized the speedboat.
Our Natore correspondent reported that a five-year-old girl of Lalpur Colony Para under Lalpur upazila of Natore district drowned in the Padma on Sunday.
Police and family sources said Barsha, 5, daughter of Makbul Hossain, drowned in the river while she was taking a bath at around 2:00pm.
Locals rescued Barsha, took her to Lalpur Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared her dead.
