Two AL men arrested for assaulting R & H engr
Two Awami League (AL) men were yesterday arrested on charge of assaulting an engineer of Roads and Highways Department in Netrakona town on Sunday night.
The arrestees are Mrinal Kanti Roy, a member of the executive body of AL district unit, and Masud, an activist of the unit.
The officer-in-charge of Netrakona Police Station said a group of people led by Mrinal and Masud entered the Roads and Highways office in the town at around 11:00pm and asked Executive Engineer Nurul Hossain to give them several construction works without inviting tender.
As Nurul Hossain refused to oblige, they beat him up. The seriously injured engineer was admitted to Netrakona Sadar Hospital.
He filed a case with Netrakona Police Station, accusing eight people including Mrinal and Masud. Police arrested Mrinal and Masud at their respective houses in the town while the rest have gone into hiding.
