Lucky 19 of Khulna
Nineteen English medium students of Islamabad Collegiate School in Khulna City appeared at social science subject in the Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinations at Mannujan Government Girls High School centre two and a half hours after the scheduled time on Monday, as the question papers did not reach in time.
They appeared at the examination from 4:30pm to 7:30pm under special arrangement.
Question papers for these 19 English medium candidates appearing from this examination centre were not sent from Jessore education board, said Headmaster Md Imran Ali of Mannujan Government Girls High School at Boyra in Khulna city.
Later at 4:00pm on the same day, Headmaster Imran Ali collected English version question papers of the subject from Jahanabad Cantonment School at Shiromoni in Khulna city following instruction by Chairman of Jessore education board Md Abul Bashar to enable the candidates to sit for the examination.
The examinees faced power disruption twice during their examination from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.
Khulna Deputy Commissioner Jamsher Ahmed Khandaker helped arranging the question papers promptly by contacting the chairman of Jessore education board, said Imran Ali.
Guardians of candidates blamed the authorities of Islamabad Collegiate School for negligence of duty.
Asked about the matter, Headmaster of Islamabad Collegiate School Shamima Shahnewaz said, "The board authorities committed the mistake. I had asked for English version question papers for social science subject from the board."
The chairman of Jessore education board, on the other hand, said, "None of Islamabad Collegiate School asked for English version question papers of social science subject for 19 English medium students of the school."
