Robbers loot cash, gold ornaments from 4 houses
Robbers looted cash and gold ornaments worth Tk 22 lakh from four houses in Manikganj and Narayanganj yesterday and the day before.
Robbers early yesterday committed a robbery at Yakub Monzil at Purba Dashara village in Manikganj town, reports our correspondent.
According to the victims, a gang of robbers numbering 10-12 entered the second floor rooms by breaking lock of the collapsible gate at around 4:00am.
The criminals first went to the room of Mahfuza Haider, wife of late BA Haider and tied her legs, hands and mouth.
Then they entered their 14-year-old son Sadman's room followed by 16-year-old daughter Sinthi's room.
The gang brought the two children to her mother's room. Mahfuza surrendered the keys of the almirah to the robbers when they started beating Sadman. After that the robbers took away 11 tolas of gold and cash Tk1200, from the safe.
The gang then went to the room of Yahia Titu and beat up his wife as she protested it. The criminals broke the lock of their almirah and looted 25 tolas of gold and Tk18, 000 from there.
The robbers left the house at around 4:30 am, the house members said.
In Narayanganj, robbers looted cash and valuables worth Tk 5 lakh from the house of a businessman at Rastombag in Araihazar upazila early Sunday, reports UNB.
Police and local people said a gang of robbers entered the house of local businessman Abdur Razzaq breaking open the door at about 3:00am.
Later, they took the house members hostage at gunpoint and looted Tk 30,000, in cash, 12 tolas of gold ornaments, three mobile phone sets and other valuables worth about Tk 5 lakh.
Another gang of robbers swooped on two houses in
Fatullah and looted valuables worth Tk 5 lakh in the early hours of Sunday.
Nazir Hossain, a resident of Pilkuni said robbers numbering 15/20 swooped on his house at about 3:30 am.
Later they looted valuables including cash Tk 1 lakh and 5/7 tolas of gold ornaments from the house after keeping the house members hostage at gunpoint.
On the same night the same gang stormed into the house of Mohammad Liton, a trader and looted cash and ornaments worth Tk 2 lakh.
Sensing the presence of robbers in the area, locals announced the matter over mike and informed others.
Locals rushed to the spot and chased the gang.
The robbers fled the scene exploding 5/6 cocktails at the chasing locals.
