3 hacked to death in Jessore, Comilla
A Jubo League activist was hacked to death by criminals at Gatipara village under Benapole police station in Jessore early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Touhidul Islam, 18, son of Jinnat Ali of the same village.
Police said an unknown gang called Tauhidul out of his residence on Sunday night. They hacked him to death and dumped his body in a nearby paddy field.
Farmers informed the police when they saw the body in the paddy field.
Besides, Bablu Rahman, 24, a rickshaw van puller was also hacked to death by unknown criminals in Amrakhali area under the same police station on Sunday night.
In Comilla, a young man was hacked to death by his rivals at Pashchimgaon Sahapara village in Laksam upazila Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Zakir, a telephone trader of the village.
Locals said co-villager Mithun Saha and his men caught Zakir's nephews Sumon and Russell at 8pm and beat them mercilessly following a past enmity.
On information, Zakir rushed to the spot in a bid to rescue them and at one stage of altercation Mithun Saha and his accomplices stabbed him indiscriminately leaving him critically injured.
Zakir was rushed to Laksam hospital and later he was taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital where the attending doctor declared him dead at night.
As the news spread in the village, relatives of Zakir ransacked the house of Mithun Saha and later set it on fire.
Police arrested Shimul Saha, younger brother of Mithun Saha in connection with the murder.
