4 to die for killing one
A court here yesterday sentenced four people to death and fined Tk 25,000 each for killing a photographer of Monohordi upazila of the district.
After examining records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge AKM Abul Kashem handed down the verdict.
The convicts are -- Shah Alam, 22, son of Abu Syed, Md Rubel, 28, son of Haris Uddin, Zahirul Islam, 20, son of Sirajul Haque, and Ali Hossain, 23, son of Amin Member.
According to the prosecution, on May 17, 2009, Mohammad Mostofa, son of Khaleq Mia of Sanghardia village under Monohordi upazila went missing. After three days, on May 20, police recovered his body from near a bridge of Narandi Kesra water body.
Abu Syed, uncle of the deceased later filed a case with Monohordi police station in this connection.
Police arrested the four and following their statement they recovered the knife used to kill Mostofa.
