<i>Acid victim fighting for life</i>
A widow, who sustained severe burn injuries in an acid attack in Goainghat upazila on Wednesday, is fighting for life at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Victim Zahena Begum, 50, is wife of late Shaher Mia of Teknagul village of the upazila.
Locals said criminals hurled acid at Zahena through the window of her thatched house while she was asleep in her room at about 1:30am Wednesday, leaving her critically injured.
Later, neighbours rushed her to the hospital. Her head and other parts of the body were seriously burnt in the acid attack. The reason behind the attack could not be known immediately.
Meanwhile, police arrested three people -- Amir Hamza, 28, son of the victim, Siddiqur Rahman, 52, and Maksud Hasan, 35, yesterday in connection with the attack.
Victim's brother-in-law Abdul Awal filed a case with local police station.
