BSF returns 16 held for crossing border

Sixteen Bangladeshi national, arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) of India for illegal entry into that country through Kashipur border under Fulbari upazila of the district on Tuesday, were handed over to Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) personnel on Wednesday. They are Bablu Miah, 28, Saidur Rahman, 17, Sahidul Islam, 32, Sahida Begum, 20, Shahnaz, 35, Shirina Khatun, 12, Sakil Ahmed, 7, Sarbanu, 5, Jyotsna Parvin, 8, Sarifa Rani, 3, Abdus Salam, 29, Nazma Begum, 18, and Rashida Begum, 30, of Dhani Gagla village under Nageswari upazila and Fatema Begum, 20, Reazul Haque, 30, and one year-old Khadiza Khatun, of Khochabari village under Fulbari upazila of the district. The Indian border guards of Kharida Horidas outpost picked up the Bangladeshis from Gidaldaha Railway Station on Tuesday night. The BSF handed them over to its Bangladesh counterpart through a flag meeting at Gorok Mondol border village at 2:00pm on Wednesday. Some of the arrestees told the law enforcers that they went to India in search of employment. BDR handed them over to Fulbari police and filed a case with the police station. All the 16 were yesterday produced in a Kurigram court that granted them bail.
