Muggers stab trader to death
A local trader was stabbed to death by muggers at Chatgaon under Keraniganj model police station early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Shah Jamal, 55, a trader of garment accessories and son of Israfil of the area.
Police said Shah Jamal while returning home from his workplace at about 1am, a gang of muggers intercepted him in the area and tried to snatch his money and mobile phone set.
As he tried to resist the muggers they stabbed him indiscriminately leaving him critically injured.
Hearing his cry for help locals rushed to the spot and took him to Mitford Hospital at about 2am where the attending doctor declared him dead.
In South Keraniganj, slaughtered body a young man was recovered from a field at Khejurbag.
The identity of the deceased, aged about 25, could not be known immediately.
