Students boycott exam as questions 'out of syllabus'
Honours students of the government colleges in Barisal and Kushtia yesterday boycotted first year final examination alleging that the questions were out of syllabus.
They also staged demonstration, blocked roads and damaged vehicles.
In Barisal, a total 1642 honours first year examinees of marketing, management and accounting departments of six government colleges appeared in the examination on 'fundamentals of finance' subject at two centers in Barisal city in the morning, according to a correspondent.
The examinees from Barisal Govt Hatem Ali College, Women's College, Barisal College, Gournadi College, Jhalakathi College sat for the examination at Barisal Govt B M College center and at Govt Hatem Ali College center at 9:00am.
When they found that questions were out of syllabus, they came out of exam centers, stage demonstration and blocked roads in the city. Examinees of Hatem Ali College center damaged some vehicles in Nabogram area of the city.
Police with the help of teachers brought the situation under control.
Our Kushtia correspondent reported that students of management department of Kushtia Government College boycotted the first year honours final examination on the same ground.
They barricaded Kushtia-Khulna highway and damaged two vehicles. Police however, brought the situation under control.
According to Kushtia Government College sources, around 300 students of the college took part in the examination at Kushtia Zila School centre. The examination began at 9:00am.
They came out of the examination hall at around 10.:30am and put up a barricade on the highway, disrupting traffic for an hour from 11:00am.
