Coal extraction from Brapukuria mine came to a halt following a fire incident at the elevator of the mine on
Managing Director Mohammad Kamruzzaman told the news agancy that IC (integrated circuit) of the elevator of Phase No 1108 was burnt in a fire incident on Saturday evening, making the lift inoperative.
The elevator is used to lift miners from deep inside the mine through shaft.
coal extraction may resume in 2-3 days after repair work, he added.
In Thakurgaon, fire gutted sugarcane on seven acres belonging to a farm of Thakurgaon Sugar Mills in Sadar upazila on Saturday
afternoon, reports our correspondent.
Sources said the fire broke out at about 4:30pm and soon engulfed the entire area of the farm.
On information fire fighters rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire with the help of local people after an hour of hectic efforts.
The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
The farm owners estimated the damage caused by the fire at about 3 lakh.
