Jhenidah grocer, decorator murdered

Criminals killed a decorator in the district on Saturday while body of a grocer, kidnapped a few days ago, was found in Jessore yesterday. Criminals on Saturday night hacked a decorator to death at Abaipur village under Shailkupa upazila of the district. The deceased was identified as Hashem Ali, 50, son of late Abdul Hakim Mia of Lakhandia village under the upazila. Daughter of the victim, Razani Khatun, said, her father left for Sreepur bazaar in Magura district on Saturday for work there. The next morning Hashem's body was found lying behind the community clinic of Abaipur village in Shailkupa. SI Ashraf Hossain of Shailkupa police station said, Hashem Ali worked at a decorator shop in Sreepur bazaar and stayed there. He might have been killed in family feud, he said. Body of another middle-aged man, kidnapped by criminals on October 7, was found in Jessore yesterday. Nabin Mondol, 42, a grocer at Gazipur village in Harinakundu upazila, was abducted by criminals when he went to Jhenidah Sadar upazila on business purpose. Later, the abductors demanded Tk 3 lakh as ransom from his family. Being informed, police arrested outlaw Anisur Rahman and his wife Nasrin from Harinakundu. Following their confessional statement, police yesterday morning recovered the body of Nabin from the house of Puti Mollah at Shatiantala village of Jessore Sadar upazila. Police arrested two others Rahed and Shahin from Jessore -- for their suspected involvement in the killing.
