Boat race in Khulna
The fifth annual boat race was held yesterday in the Rupsha River.
Sponsored by Banglalink, the colourful event was organised by Nagar Samajik and Sangskritik Kendra, a cultural-cum-social organisation of Khulna.
KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque kicked off the event as chief guest at 2:00 pm. Ten teams from Khulna, Satkhira, Narail, Magura and Gopalganj districts took part in the boat race.
Mostafa Kamal Khokon of Tiger Party of Dumuria upazila of Khulna district, Arun Chandra Mandol of Joi Bangla Party of Magura district and Goutam of Balaka Paikgacha upazila also of Khulna district won first, second and third prizes respectively in the boat race.
The winner of first prize received a refrigerator while winners of second and third prizes got 21-inch and 14-inch colour TV sets.
