Villagers beat python dead in Pabna

Villagers beat dead a medium sized python at Goashpur Modhhapara village of Pabna Sadar upazila early yesterday. Seeing a large snake crossing a village road at about 12:30am yesterday, Md Kamruzzaman started crying, villagers said. Over a hundred villagers rushed to the spot and beat the snake dead. Later it was taken to Abu Hanif's house. Hearing the news, the villagers from different areas rushed to his residence to see the snake. “The snake is at least 10-foot-long and weighs over 20 kg. It is a python but locally known as bura snake,” Abu Hanif said. He also said that this is a beautiful looking snake and the villagers come to see it. Asking about the killing of snake, the villagers said they killed snake out of panic. When contacted, district Forest Officer Azit Kumar Rudra said, "We did not know about the matter. We will take the information from the spot. The matter would be investigated.”
