British Council CEO joins anti-stalking human chain in Mongla

British Council Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Martin Davidson CMG yesterday participated in an anti-stalking human chain programme at a village in Mongla under Bagerhat district. Davidson visited the Aila-hit areas in Khulna and Bagerhat yesterday afternoon and joined the human chain at Uttar Chandpai village under Mongla upazila. "Active Citizen" project jointly run by Hunger Project and British Council organised the human chain programme. Expressing his solidarity with anti-stalking programme, Davidson said he and his organisation will always support any good initiative in Bangladesh. He, however, said stalking is a problem of the people of Bangladesh and they will have to solve it themselves. He stressed the need for creating awareness against stalking and said that active citizens can create the awareness. British Council Programme Development Manager Mathew Knowles, its Global Human Resources directors Mrs Pippa Greenslade, the organisation's head of culture, climate and citizenship Syed Masud Hossain, Project Manager of the Hunger Project Jamirul Islam, Mongla upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Noor Alam Sheikh accompanied the British Council CEO. Davidson also visited a project on climate change at Kamarkhali under Dakope upazila of the district.
