Three Hizb-ut Tawhid men remanded
A court here yesterday placed three Hizb-ut Tawhid men on a two-day remand.
They are Shamnur Imam alias Emon, 23, ameer of Hizb-ut Tawhid Chapainawabganj district unit, Abdus Samad alias Lalon, 25, and Akhtar Hossain Shamim.
Sub-Inspector Zahidul Islam of Sadar Police Station produced the arrested militants in the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court with a prayer for a seven-day remand, but Chief Judicial Magistrate Basu Dev Roy granted two days.
On October 22, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-5 arrested the three of the Islamist outfit in Rehaichar area, near Birshreshtha Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir Bridge at 1:30pm when they were distributing leaflets.
Rab also seized leaflets and jihadi books from them. Later, Rab handed them to Sadar Police Station and filed a case against them.
