A BDR court will deliver judgment in the mutiny case against 35 jawans of 10 Rifles Battalion in Bandarban under Rangamati sector on November 9 while trial proceedings against 20 mutineers of Phulbari Battalion under Dinajpur Sector begins today. Our staff correspondent reported that Col Bashirul Islam, chief of the special court-16, set up at Rifles Training Centre and School at Baitul Izzat in Satkhania, fixed the date yesterday During the hearing, 12 of the accused pleaded guilty while the rest claimed innocence. In Dinajpur, trial of 20 mutineers of 40 Rifles Battalion will begin at a special court, set up at the battalion headquarters in Phulbari, at 10:00am today, reports our correspondent. The BDR men have been accused of participating in the mutiny at the battalion headquarters on February 25 and 26 last year, expressing solidarity with the mutineers of BDR headquarters at Pilkhana in the capital. A case against the 20 Jawans of the battalion was filed with Dinajpur Police Station on May last year. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station Md Shamim Iqbal lodged the case as complainant. He was also made investigation officer of the case. In the case statement, the complainant stated that the accused came out of their camp with arms and fired blankshots. Col Saleh Admad, commander of Dinajpur sector, is the chief of the special court-13 while Lt Colonel Mahaful Alam and Major Didar Al Latif are the members. Our staff correspondent from Khulna adds: The trial of mutineers of 23rd Rifles Battalion at Goalkhali under Khalishpur Police Station in Khulna city began at the special court-12 at 9:30 am yesterday. Headed by Rajshahi Sector Commander Col Mohammad Ehia Azam Khan, Two other members of the court are Lt Col. Gazi Md Khalid Hossain and Lt Commander Muhammad Touhidul Islam. Deputy Attorney General Shashanka Shekhar Sarker is representing the attorney general while Major Mohammod Elahi Bux of BDR Khulna sector headquarters appeared in the court as special prosecutor. The JCO Quarter Master of Khulna sector headquarters read out the allegations against the mutineers. The court took the allegations against the mutineers into its cognizance and ordered supply of copies of charges to the accused and produce 27 accused mutineers before the court by 10 am today.
