Activities at Sonamasjid port halted for 5 hours
Export -import between Bangladesh and India through Sonamasjid land port remained suspended for five hours yesterday due to a clash between Bangladeshi and Indian truckers.
Customs and C & F Agent Association sources said a scuffle between two truck drivers of the two countries took place following an altercation over giving side of a truck near Panama Gate of the port.
Trade through the port came to a halt after the incident at 9:00am.
Shibganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abu Taher Masud Rana said trade through the port resumed at 2:30pm following a fruitful discussion with the Indian authorities at zero point of the border.
