Books distributed among affected students
Panchagarh district administration yesterday distributed education materials among over 100 affected students of Garati enclave under Panchagarh Sadar upazila.
Sadar Upazila Chairman Abdul Khalek and Vice-Chairman Anwar Sadat Samrat distributed the items on behalf of the district administration.
Later on the same day Programme Coordinator of RDRS Bangladesh, Panchagarh, Zeba Afroz distributed sarees among the affected women.
A mob torched and vandalised several houses at Garati enclave, adjacent to Haribhasha union under Panchagarh Sadar upazila on October 16 in a sequel to killing of a Bangladeshi villager.
People living in the Indian enclave inside Bangladesh alleged locals caught and beat up one Ramzan Ali, 50, to death following illegal trespass of a group of about 20 to 25 villagers on October 15.
As the handover of Ali's body was delayed, a mob comprising villagers from Haribhasha, Hafizabad and Amarkhana unions made the attack.
Earlier on Thursday, district administration of Kuchbihar in India gave relief material for the 102 affected families of Garati enclave.
Operations Officer of 25 Rifles Battalion Maj AKM Hasibul Hossain Nabi received the aid at Banglabandha Land Port from Block Development Officer of Kuchbihar District Administration Gopal Chandra Das, Maj Hasib said.
The relief materials include 150 pieces of saree, 75 pieces of lungi and 75 pieces of dhuti.
