DIG of police visits spot, assures locals of killers' arrest
Siddiqur |Rahman, deputy inspector general (DIG) of police, Rajshahi Range, yesterday visited the spot where Boraigram upazila chairman and Bonpara municipal BNP president Sanaullah Noor Babu was killed.
BNP Bonpara Pourasava unit formed a human chain at Bonpara Bazar and brought out a procession at the time demanding immediate arrest of the killers of Babu, withdrawal of sub-inspector Lutfor Rahman of Bonpara police investigation centre and security of the family of slain upazila chairman.
DIG Siddiqur Rahman held a view exchange meeting with local police officials at the police investigation centre in a bid to improve law and order in the area.
When the DIG was returning after visiting Bonpara police investigation center and reached the spot, BNP leaders and workers and local people demanded immediate arrest of the killers, withdrawal of sub-inspector Lutfor Rahman of Bonpara police investigation centre and security of Babu's wife Mahua Noor Kochi. They also demanded arrest of those responsible for assaulting journalists during the incident.
The DIG assured the people of arrest and trial of the killers of upazila chairman Babu.
