Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in separate drives arrested five criminals from Uzirpur upazila and Barisal city yesterday morning. Rab arrested outlawed Sarbahara Party zonal leader Md Nannu Khan, 38, Mizanur Rahman, 27, and Jalil Mahmud, 29, from Narayanpur Bazar under Uzirpur upazila of Barisal district yesterday morning. Five firearms including one 7.65 mm foreign made pistol, one shortened rifle and three one-shooter guns with five bullets and 24 bottles of phensidyl were also seized from their possession. Acting on a tip, Rab-8 team raided Narayanpur Bazar area at about 10:00am and arrested them, Rab said, adding that the arrestees are accused in several criminal cases including murder, abduction and robbery in Uzirpur upazila areas. Local people brought out a procession of joy after hearing the news of the arrest. Another team of Rab-8 arrested more two criminals from Gonopara area of the city with 12 bottles of phensidyl. The arrestees -- Mizanur Rahman Joadder, 26, and Dulal Talukder, 50 -- are accused in several criminal cases, Rab said. They were sent to jail.
