Six muggers arrested in Bogra
Local people caught six muggers at Atail in Shahjahanpur upazila of the district on Friday and handed them over to the police.
The muggers are Enamul Haque, 22, son of late Afsar Ali of Mohipur village, Rezaul Karim, 28, son of Abdul Karim of Dhrmakom village, Hamidul Islam, 20, son of Khoka Pramanik, Jagat, 22, son of Abul Hossain Talukder, Zahidul Islam, 26, son of Abu Bakar Siddique and Hossain Ali, 28, son of late Abdul Aziz of Mirzapur Fultola in
Sherpur upazila.
Police said smuggler Bidyut of Nandigram upazila was carrying Indian saris to Santahar from Shahjahanpur upazila headquarters in an auto-rickshaw on Friday night. When the tree-wheeler reached Birkula area, the gang intercepted the vehicle and looted the saris from Bidyut at gunpoint.
Hearing the news, locals chased the muggers, caught them in Atail area and beat them up.
On information, police rushed to the spot and took the muggers to Shahjahanpur Police Station. They recovered 50 pieces of Indian saris from the gang.
