One killed in Satkhira clash

A trader was killed in a clash between two groups of people over installing a makeshift shop near a puja mandop at Subarnabad Bazar in Debhata upazila on Tuesday night. The victim was identified as Ananda Mohon Hawladar, 46, son of Khagendra Nath Hawladar of village Subrnabad in the upazila. Police arrested Adhir Kumar Mondal, 36, and Samir Kumar Mondal, 30, of the same village soon after the incident. Quoting local people police said the clash ensued between the two groups when Ananda went there to install a makeshift shop at around 9:00 pm on Tuesday. Both the groups used lethal weapons during the clash that lasted for half an hour. At one stage, rivals hit Anada on his head with a bamboo stick, leaving him injured seriously. He succumbed to his injuries on way to Satkhira Sadar Hospital. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Contacted, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Syed Nazrul Islam of Kaliganj circle said police arrested two people in connection with the incident.
