Covered-van driver killed by muggers
A covered-van driver was strangled by a gang of muggers in Sonaimuri upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Yasin, 35, of Feni district. Police said the gang intercepted the cotton-laden covered-van on Feni bypass road on its way to Gazipur from Chittagong at around 10:00pm.
They tied hands and legs of helper Monir and left him in Bogadia area on Begumganj-Sonaimuri road. Later, the criminals took control of the van at gunpoint, snatched Tk 10,000 from Yasin and strangled him.
Locals found the body of Yasin inside the van yesterday morning and informed the police who went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
