Chararhat massacre day observed
Chararhat mass killing day observed in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur yesterday.
On this day in 1971, Pakistani occupation army with the help of their local collaborators killed at least 103 people of two villages.
Shefali Begum, an eyewitness to the incident, said the Pakistatani army and their local collaborators came to the village at midnight. They entered the houses, picked up 103 people. They took the villagers to Chararhat and shot them dead.
Md Abdul Kader, another witness, said at least 67 men and 36 women were killed by Pakistani army on that night. Villagers urged the government to build a memorial at Chararhat for the martyrs.
