BSF hands over three to BDR
Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) handed over three Bangladeshis, who were in Indian jail for the last 29 months, to BDR on Wednesday.
Earlier, a company-level flag meeting was held at Joynagar frontier in Chuadanga in the afternoon.
The Bangladeshis are Jihad Hossain, 32, son of Abdul Wahab, Ayesha Khatun alias Putul, 24, daughter of Mahbubul Haq of municipal area in Monirampur upazila and Rafiq Sheikh, 40, of municipal area in Jhikorgachha upazila of Jessore.
According to BDR and police, the three went to India through Munshipur border under Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga with no legal documents on March 27, 2008.
BSF from Hatkhola camp in Nadia district in West Bengal caught them and handed them over to Dinhata police. Later a case was filed against the three.
After a three-month trial, a Krishnanagar court in Nadia sentenced each to six months' imprisonment.
The three Bangladeshis were released from jail on August 27.
