UP chairman, 8 others sued
Nine people, including a union parishad chairman, were sued for their alleged bid to sell 2,750 kg rice meant for distribution under VGF programme in Kendua upazila under Netrakona district yesterday.
Sub-Inspector Nurul Amin of Kendua Police Station filed the case yesterday morning. The accused are Mozaffarpur Union Parishad Chairman Mujibur Rahman, his associates Fazlul Haque, Mamun Mia and Ratan Mia, rice trader Abdul kuddus and UP members Hashem Uddin, Abdul Khaleq, Osman Uddin, and Hasna Akhter.
Of them, Fazlul Haque, Mamun Mia and Ratan Mia were arrested on the spot while the rest are still at large.
Police said they seized the rice at Santinagar under kendua municipality while Fazlu, Mamun and Ratan were carrying those to a market in three tractors from the house of chairman Mujibur Rahman Bhuiyan on Thursday morning.
Contacted, Office-in-Charge (OC) of Kendua Police Station Mosharraf Hossain said they are looking for the UP chairman and five other accused in the case.
