Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) seized 460 sacks of adulterated MOP fertiliser from Lalkrisnapur area of Lalpur upazila of the district on Friday night. Officer-in-charge of Lalpur police station Torikul Islam said, a Rab-5 team, following a tip-off, raided the house of Ataur Rahman, 45, son of Solaiman Ali at about 10:30pm and recovered the fake fertilisers. There were 460 bags of fake and Indian low-quality MOP fertiliser, a few sacks of salt, a number of empty sacks, brick powder, and fertiliser mixing equipment in the house, he said. However, sensing the presence of the law enforcers, Ataur Rahman and his accomplices fled the scene. Locals alleged that Ataur Rahman had long been selling adulterated fertiliser, mixing brick powder with low-quality Indian Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertiliser. A case was filed with Lalpur police station in this connection. In Jessore, a task force on Friday night unearthed a fake fertiliser factory, reports our correspondent.
