Land surveyor arrested
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Rajshahi arrested a surveyor of the assistant commissioner's (land) office in Charghat upazila yesterday on charge of taking bribe. Arrestee Abdul Matin, 43, was handed over to the police and a criminal case was filed with Charghat police station, said Abdul Karim, deputy director of Rajshahi ACC. Several days ago, one Ramzan Ali of Thanapara of the upazila complained to the ACC that he was being harassed at the AC Land office for last three years as he went there for mutation of a piece of land. The surveyor demanded Tk 3000 as bribe for the mutation and he finally settled it at Tk 1500. As Ramzan went to pay Matin the bribe money, an ACC team followed him and caught Matin red-handed.
