Stalker throws acid on girl, her grandma
A schoolgirl and her grandmother were severely injured as a stalker threw acid on them at Sharol village under Paikgachha upazila of Khulna district early yesterday.
The schoolgirl Irani Begum, 15, a class nine student of Paikgachha Shaheed Zia Girls' High School, sustained burn injuries in her face and hands, while her grandmother Sakhina Khatoon, 65, received injuries in her legs.
They were admitted to Paikgachha Upazila Health Complex and shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital at 3:00 pm yesterday as their condition deteriorated.
The incident occurred at around 1:30am when Irani along with her grandmother Sakhina was asleep in a room of their house. Irani's family sources said the stalker, Muzzafar of the same village, threw acid through the window of the room targeting her as she refused to marry him.
Irani's father Noor Islam Khan alleged that Muzaffar used to tease his daughter on her way to school everyday. He also threatened to kill her as she refused a proposal to marry him, Noor Islam added.
Contacted, Officer-in-Charge of Paikgachha Police Station Humayun Kabir said police are looking for Muzaffar. A case against the stalker is under process, the OC added.
