Man held with arms
Police in a drive arrested a criminal along with a firearm from a Dhaka-bound passenger bus at Doulatdia Ghat early yesterday. The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Rana Mollah, 28, son of Mannan Mollah of South Gangarampur village in Moksudpur upazila of Gopalganj district. Acting on a tip off, a team of Goalanda Ghat police intercepted a capital-bound Hanif Paribahan bus from Benapole near Kafil Uddin filling station at about 3am. Sensing presence of police Rana tried to flee targeting a pistol at Goalanda police station SI Shaminul Haque who quickly dived and caught the criminal. Police recovered an American-made 9mm pistol along with a few bullets from him.
