50 hurt as villagers clash
Over 50 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups of villagers at Yala village in Baniachong upazila yesterday.
Police said Mahadev Sarker of the village took lease of two water bodies from upazila parishad recently.
When Mahadev along with his men went to install bamboos there at about 9am, supporters of Nuru Mia Talukder obstructed them, which resulted in an hour long clash.
The two groups equipped with home made lethal weapons attacked each other, leaving over 50 people injured from the both sides.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Of the injured, 30 were admitted to upazila health complex and Sadar Hospital. Rest of injured were given first aid.
