The questions of written examinations for recruitment to different posts of Dinajpur Sadar Hospital were allegedly distributed in advance to a section of candidates in exchange of huge amounts of bribe. Iqbalur Rahim, lawmaker of Dinajpur-3 constituency, said he received the allegations of bribery and irregularity in manpower recruitment at Dinajpur Sadar Hospital. "I received allegations that authorities leaked out the question paper a day before the examinations that were held on Friday. I am collecting pieces of evidence about it," he said while speaking as chief guest at an Awami League committee meeting in Dinajpur on Saturday evening. Contacted by this correspondent, the lawmaker said, "I knew little about manpower recruitment at Dinajpur Sadar Hospital but I later came to know the happenings centring the process. Irregularities in any department in my constituency will not be tolerated." After Dinajpur Sadar Hospital authorities published circular in two national and local dailies inviting application from the eligible candidates in early June, 5,500 candidates applied for 68 posts of third and fourth class employees. Written test examinations for the candidates of third class posts including ten typists, three junior mechanics and four drivers were held on Friday while the results were published on Saturday afternoon. Fifteen candidates at a press conference at Dinajpur Press Club yesterday alleged that a few officials of Dinajpur Civil Surgeon's Office distributed the question papers among their chosen candidates in advance in exchange of bribes ranging from Tk 2 lakh to TK 3 lakh. When contacted, the civil surgeon of Dinajpur, also the member secretary of five-member recruitment committee, refuted the allegations of bribery and question leakage. "A three-member committee prepared the question for examination. I know nothing about the question leakage," he said. Md Mostafizur Rahman, state minister for land, is the president of Dinajpur Sadar Hospital Management Committee, sources said.
