2 Hizbut Touhid men held while distributing leaflets
Police Saturday night arrested two members of banned Islamist outfit Hizbut Touhid while distributing leaflets in Barakupot area in Shyamnagar upazila.
Police recovered leaflets, jihadi books, mobile phone, CDs and some papers from their possession.
The arrestees are Nur-e Alam, 37, son of Atiar Rahman of village Biralaxmi and Rabiul Islam, 33, son of Moslem Uddin of village Atulia in Shyamnagar upazila.
Quoting locals police said the arrested Hizbut Touhid members were distributing leaflets asking people to join jihad or militancy at Noabiki bazar on Saturday afternoon.
On information, police rushed to the area. But sensing the presence of police they fled the scene and took shelter in a house at a crab enclosure at Barakupot. Police arrested them from the enclosure at about 8:30pm.
Police recovered two books styled 'Dazzal' written by Humayun Khan Panni, two CDs, jihadi books, leaflets and other papers from their possession.
The arrestees were produced before the judicial magistrate's court yesterday and the court sent them to jail.
