Missing Bogra college student found dead

Body of a college student was recovered from nearby Joypurhat district railway station on Friday. The deceased was identified as Selim, 22, son of Shamsur Rahman of Kazla village in Sariakandi upazila of Bogra district. Selim was a degree examinee of Bogra Government Azizul Haque College. Family sources said Selim went missing on Thursday afternoon. Police suspected that the criminals took him to Joypurhat and strangulated to death on that night following a previous enmity. Joypurhat police on information recovered the body and handed it over to his family members after autopsy. A case was filed with Sadar police station. Meanwhile, an alleged thief was killed in mob beating while trying to steal valuables from a house at Gobindapur village in Shibganj upazila early Friday. The deceased was identified as Harun-or-Rashid, 35, son of Abul Hossain of Kalai Didamgara village of nearby Kahalu upazila. Police and locals said a gang of thieves entered the house of Hafizar Rahman of the village. Sensing the presence of the thieves, the members of the house raised a hue and cry. Locals rushed to the spot and caught one of the thieves, Harun, and gave him a good beating leaving him dead on the spot.
