College student, 2 others murdered

A college student, a fish trader and a farmer have been murdered in Jhenidah, Kushtia and Meherpur. College student Rahmat Ali Khokon, 23, was found dead at Khazura village in Sadar upazila of Jhenidah yesterday morning. Son of Rawshan Miah of Binni village in Harinakundu upazila, Khokon was a student of Jhenidah Government KC College. Police said Khokon was missing since he went out of his house for the district town with a motorbike on Friday afternoon. Villagers found his body with several injury marks in a bamboo cluster yesterday morning and informed police. Police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy. Officer-in-charge Sagir Mia of Jhenidah police station said Khokon was also a contractor. His motorbike, spectacles and wallet were found near his body. Our Correspondent in Kushtia reports: Police recovered the body of a fish trader yesterday in Kushtia while in Meherpur a farmer injured on Friday night by rivals succumbed yesterday. According to police, Selim Hossain, 30, son of Bozla Fakir of Farakpur village went out of home on Friday evening. Yesterday his body was found at Morgati field in Daulatpur upazila. He was slaughtered by the killers. In Meherpur, Nadir Mondol, 45, a farmer of Ramnagar in Gangni upazila was severely injured as Abdus sattar, a watchman of the village indiscriminately chopped him over a land related dispute at about 9:30 pm on Friday. Two aides of Nadir were also injured in the incident. They are Anarul, 23, and Bakirul, 30, of the village. All the three were admitted to Meherpur General Hospital where Nadir succumbed at about 2:00pm. Injured Anarul filed a case with Gangni police station yesterday.
