Weekend walls

Seeing your every day walls transform into an expression of art is a joy in itself, which increases with your involvement in the process. You can start from scratch or choose store-bought accessories in your way to having magnificent walls. Either way, all you need to make the change is a weekend.

The most usual way of changing a wall is adding a lot of colours to it. It is also the most versatile since there is a wide range of methods, all of which have distinct effects on the ambience of your room.

Painting your wall in a theme that you can connect with is in the hype among enthusiasts. It is not just a generalised ocean theme or fairytale motif anymore, rather a scene from a movie, a panel from a comic, the cover of a favourite book or the artistic interpretation of an adored fairytale.

As complicated as it looks, it is fairly easy to create such a theme yourself investing only a weekend.

Once you have the intended picture chosen and the required supplies (paints, brushes etc.) ready at hand, start with sketching the outlines. If you want your wall to look exactly like a picture, use a stencil or project the picture on the wall and follow it. It will make your project quicker and easier to achieve.

Wallpapers are also widely used to change the look of the walls. Add a twist to the practice of covering the whole wall with a single type of wallpaper by framing precious and good looking papers and hanging them on the wall. Papers of geometric patterns can be framed along with family pictures to create interesting contrasts.

A different take on photographs can go a long way too. Tweaking the size of the photographs is an easy way to do that. You can use small photos to make a mural on the wall. It will involve a lot of planning to make a bigger picture but after that, some adhesive and patience will be all you need. On the contrary, oversized family photos will only need to have big smiles to give a fun vibe. Go easy on the framing while working with large pictures.
