Exploring Dante
The Embassy of Italy, in collaboration with the Institute of Modern Languages of Dhaka University, will launch a virtual exhibition on 21 October, titled 'Dante Plus 700', during a workshop on this great poet, Dante Alighieri.
Commemorating 700 years of his death, the exhibition will be a part of The Week of the Italian Language in the World, which is an event promoted by the Italian cultural and diplomatic network every year around a theme that acts as a leitmotif for the organisation of a vast cultural program focused on the dissemination of the Italian language.
Hence, in honour of Dante Alighieri, this year the Week (18 October - 24 October) is featuring exhibits, dramatic readings, seminars, and concerts all over the world.
Dante Plus 700 is a collective exhibition of a group of artists trying to give a new identity to the poet, through illustrations, comics, and street art.
Dante is a name well-known across the globe, often referred to as the 'Supreme Poet'. His Divine Comedy is a monumental work of literature. Even several centuries after his demise, he continues to inspire and influence artists of various genres -- and this exhibition shall present him to today's modern generation.
