Transmitting electric power without wires
Recently, I came across an AFP news report from Tokyo on the transmission of electric power without wires using microwave technology. This is an epic breakthrough in electrical power transmission that was made possible by successful experiments carried out by Japanese research scientists. They could deliver 1.8 kilowatt of electric power with pinpoint accuracy to the receiving unit kept 55 meters away. The invention was announced by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The programme was taken up way back in 2009 and now six years down the road, the breakthrough has been achieved. This is very important news for countries which have a huge demand for electric power.
