Shameful stuff by ESPNCricinfo

ESPNCricinfo has been the top website for cricket related news, live scores and articles for the last few years. As cricket fans, we expect them to be neutral and treat every team fairly. However, in the commentary on the Bangladesh – Afghanistan match, it wrote at the end of the match that, “Bangladesh have gone on a victory lap of honour here. Thanking their fans. They haven't won the World Cup yet, though. Just shows how rare success at international level is for them that a win against Afghanistan is celebrated thusly.”

The real story was that Bangladesh players jogged around the field to thank the expatriate Bangladeshis, many of whom had driven hundreds of miles to support their team and not to celebrate the win, which was much-expected given the fact that Afghanistan are associate members only. While all the fans would admit that the batting wasn't perfect and there were plenty of mistakes the Tigers can rectify, this sort of behaviour from cricket's top site is unacceptable. Many cricket fans around the globe were misled into believing that Bangladesh team treats a victory against Afghanistan like winning the world cup, but that is not the case. We sincerely hope that the commentators working in a site of ESPNCricinfo's caliber refrains from making such misleading comments.
