Letter To The Editor

PM's needless ire against TDS

Recently the prime minister accused The Daily Star of patronising extremism by publishing a banned organisation's poster. I think the accusation is based on misinterpretation. The heading of that report was very clear, that rising of extremism is a matter of anxiety for all.

However, responding to the PM, the editor of TDS wrote a commentary on Friday, 20th February which was very outspoken. He said that in the totalitarian way of things, the view is that the government is the best guarantor of national interest, and hence the public will only know as much as the government allows it to know.

We still like to believe that our government is not totalitarian.
