Obstruction in Muharram procession

The Muharram procession is a historical religious programme of the Shia community of Bangladesh. It has been taking place in Dhaka for many centuries. But for some reason it was obstructed this year by our law enforcers on flimsy excuses. 

The Shia community has always brought out their Muharram mourning procession in a peaceful and disciplined manner and with due permission from the law enforcing agencies. But this year permission has been denied in majority of the Shia religious institutions in Dhaka and authorities have been dilly-dallying on the issue.

We ask the authorities to not create hurdles for the people of the country to exercise their religious rights.
