Mamata’s TMC projected to win 3rd straight term in West Bengal
The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) is projected to retain power in West Bengal for the third consecutive time in the assembly polls by beating its closes challengers Bharatiya Janata Party, NDTV projected in their exit polls this evening.
TMC is projected to win 149 of the total 294 seats while BJP is projected to finish second with 116 seats.
The NDTV polls give the Left-Congress alliance 16 seats in the state.
The ABP-C Voter exit poll projects Mamata's party to get 158 seats, the BJP to bag 115 seats and the Left-Congress alliance around 19 seats.
The Times Now exit poll projects Trinamool Congress to get 154 seats against 122 of the BJP.
Only Republic TV-CNX has predicted that the BJP will get 143 seats in Bengal while the Trinamool Congress will secure 133 seats.
The rest of the poll analysts, including P-Maarq and ETG has projected clear majority for Mamata's party to retain her hold over Bengal for the third successive five-year term.
The exit poll results were released after the eighth and final phase of polling in the assembly election in West Bengal that ended at 6:30pm local time today.
