Confirmed measles deaths reach 50 amid rising cases
Confirmed measles deaths rose to 50 today after one additional fatality was reported in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest death was reported from Dhaka division.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. Meanwhile, nine more suspected deaths from measles were recorded during the same period, taking the total number of suspected deaths to 244.
Of the latest suspected fatalities, four were reported from Dhaka division, two from Barishal and one each from Chattogram, Khulna and Sylhet divisions.
During the 24-hour period, 95 new confirmed cases were reported, raising the total number of confirmed infections to 5,313.
In addition, the DGHS recorded 1,166 new suspected cases, bringing the cumulative number of suspected cases to 40,491.
