Six more die of suspected measles in 24 hours

Death toll from confirmed and suspected cases rises to 708

Six more people died of suspected measles across the country in the 24 hours until 8:00am today, bringing Bangladesh's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 708.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued today by the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the release, 744 new suspected measles cases were recorded during the reporting period, raising the total number of suspected cases reported since March 15 to 98,266.

The DGHS said 45 confirmed measles cases were also reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 11,594 since March 15.

A total of 81,955 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals since March 15, while 78,287 have recovered and been discharged.

The release said 615 children have died of suspected measles between March 15 and June 27.

No confirmed measles deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, a total of 93 confirmed measles deaths have been recorded.
