One more dies of suspected measles; toll since March 15 rises to 657

No confirmed measles deaths recorded in 24 hours

One more child has died with measles-like symptoms in 24 hours till 8:00am today, raising Bangladesh's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 657.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified the latest death as a suspected measles fatality, saying no confirmed measles deaths were recorded during the period.

With the latest update, the number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 564, while the number of laboratory-confirmed measles deaths remains unchanged at 93.

During the 24 hours, 1,006 suspected measles cases were reported, taking the growing number of suspected cases nationwide to 87,929.

Meanwhile, 136 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 10,523.

Since March 15, a total of 72,405 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, of whom 68,782 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
